Resources

Food: many of these Green Spaces provide an opportunity to work with others to grow, find or cultivate food. From the grand scale of Claver Hill’s Spud Club, tree nursery and seed savers; to several spaces with orchards and small patches of otherwise unloved land in the city, coached into providing tiny food gardens. Remember to take food in these gleaning areas where you have permission and to leave unripe fruit to ripen. Find these green spaces on the map by going to ‘Find a Green Space’.

Tools and equipment: Lancaster District Green Spaces has purchased a range of resources over the years, now kept in two gardens where members have generously let us use some storage space. You can borrow these by contacting us here. Some groups also have extensive tool stores which may be available to borrow – just ask and we may be able to put you in touch with another group. A full inventory will be provided soon.

Play: green spaces are wonderful places where children can run around, explore, climb trees, sniff flowers and sometimes get muddy. Many of the spaces in our District contain playgrounds with a variety of equipment and environments – why not explore places farther from home? Find these green spaces on the map by going to ‘Find a Green Space’.
